An Experienced, Dynamic and Fun Guide

Josée Clermont, over the last 10 years, has traversed countless mountain passes and tiny villages spread across 34,000 km of cycling over fourteen countries and five continents. All of this riding solo and unsupported. “She emits a kinetic energy when she talks about her love of adventure” (North Shore News, Vancouver, BC). Friendly, warm, and enthusiastic, she wants to share her passion for travel and adventure. Josée holds a Master’s Degree in Linguistics. She is an educator, an author, and a public speaker. She plans and guides cycling, mountain biking, and trekking expeditions.

Adventurer and Cyclist

She conducted her most recent expedition, a 10,000 km North-South traverse of South America, to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) research in honour of her mother who has struggled with this disease for the past 35 years.

Josée is a former member of the Quebec biathlon team and the Canadian Whitewater Kayaking team. In 1997 she traded her skis and paddle for two wheels and set off to successfully complete a series of solo cycling expeditions in nearly every corner of the world: Canada’s North Dempster and Top of the World Highways; another across the Italian, Swiss, and French Alps pedaling over 13 high mountain passes; then in New Zealand, across the Australian desert; a trip through Vietnam and Laos, an unmapped territory at the time; one from Alaska to the Mexican border.

Josée’s latest expedition was from Tierra del Fuego to Quito, Ecuador spanning five countries, three mountain ranges, and two deserts to raise funds for MS.

“Josée Clermont dreamt of cycling through South America—and dedicating her trip to her mother Huguette, who has had multiple sclerosis for over 35 years. She has made it a reality…” MS Canada, May 2006

“Josée is very good at coaching people. She knows how important encouragement is…She just seems to connect with everybody.” Outlook, October 2004

Climber

During her South American cycling expedition, Josée discovered an intense passion for climbing and trekking in Bolivia. She devoted the summer of 2006 to mountaineering in this unique corner of the world. She climbed Huayna Potosi (6080 m), Parinacota (6340 m), Tarija (5250 m), Pequeño Alpamayo (5320 m), and La Cabeza del Condor (5648 m), and attempted the Sajama (6542 m), the highest mountain of Bolivia.
